For Denver Broncos, the Regular Season is the Main Event

It seems funny that an offseason removed, the Denver Broncos 2012 season is defined by the only game that occurred in the 2013 calendar year. The divisional round loss at home to the Baltimore Ravens is a wound that will not go away. Continue reading “For Denver Broncos, the Regular Season is the Main Event”

Denver Broncos Leadership Dilemma in Super Bowl Goal

The Denver Broncos have recognizable leaders. Owner Pat Bowlen, Vice President John Elway, Head Coach John Fox and Quarterback Peyton Manning share a one track mind mentality in regards to the 2013 season. It’s Super Bowl or Bust. However, is this the most effective leadership strategy to land the Broncos with the Lombardi Trophy at years end? Continue reading “Denver Broncos Leadership Dilemma in Super Bowl Goal”

Colorado Rockies Fans Looking to Re-live 2007, It’s Time to Jump Ship

Following up the All-Star Break’s initial disappointing 5-5 home stand followed by an even harder to watch 1-9 road trip, the Colorado Rockies 2013 season appears to be walking the plank. With most Denver sports fans far more concerned with whom the Broncos starting center is two weeks into training camp, it appears that like Elvis, baseball has left the building in the Rocky Mountains. But for those baseball fans that are still looking for a team to cheer on as the summer winds down, there is another bandwagon to hop aboard, or should I say ship to stow away on. Off the Post: Denver Broncos Fan Harassed For Not Liking Training Camp

Denver Broncos training camp is the highlight of the entire sports season. Any real fan knows that the magic happens at training camp. That’s why people have been filling up Dove Valley, the Broncos training grounds; to stare at people they don’t recognize wearing numbers. It’s all about the practice field. The Immoral Incentive for MLB, Alex Rodriguez and Bud Selig

As Alex Rodriguez stepped to the plate for his first at bat of the year, a line drive, baseball felt very stale. The story of the latest performance enhancers in Major League Baseball, Biogenesis, has been circling since the beginning of the year. However, as the New York Yankees Network YES and ESPN cashed in on the return of A-Rod, it was another notch in this morally ambiguous play as Rodriguez fights his pending 211 game suspension. MLB and sports at large are content in giving us villains, so what is the incentive for living well in this most recent modern era? Boycotting Sochi Olympics Is Not the Answer

Amidst the words of Vitaly Milonov, the man behind the ‘gay propaganda’ ban that was signed into federal law on June 30 by the Russian government, and the fear of human rights violations to both athletes and spectators at the upcoming 2014 Sochi Olympics, there has been a lot of talk on social media and among gay rights activists in the United States regarding a potential boycott of the Olympics. Jessica Redfield Ghawi, Continuing the Legacy of a Sports Journalist

When researching an article about the motivations and struggles of becoming a female sports journalist, no one could give a better perspective than Jessica Redfield Ghawi. Jessica, who died in the Aurora theatre shooting just over a year ago, was determined, personable and committed to the task of breaking into a still male- dominated profession. The Jessica Redfield Ghawi Scholarship Fund, established in her memory, helps aspiring female journalists looking to achieve similar career dreams. However, the road for these women still requires grappling with stereotypes and proving their worth in a male-dominated career. Colorado Rockies Streak Argument Wearing Thin, Despite Desperation

The mantra around the Colorado Rockies is, we need to get on a hot streak. The 51-57 Rockies are now 7.5 games out of first place in the National League West Division, the weakest in baseball. However, everyone around the club keeps echoing that the Rockies are one streak away from competing again. As a rule, this is a bad philosophy for baseball, but it is standard line for the Rockies. The Colorado All-Star Roster From Manning to Tulo

The Major League Baseball All-Star game is the last exhibition of star talents that still holds great weight. The NFL’s Pro Bowl and NHL’s talented contests are little more than skills competitions, while the NBA continues to align all-star rosters to a few teams. While MLB may foolishly decide home field advantage in the World Series based on this game, the games classic matchups continue to provide a mystical quality in the combining of National League rosters versus the American League. Don’t Talk Guns, Race, or Justice in George Zimmerman Case

Initially, I believed that the George Zimmerman trial was not a terribly important one. It represented an isolated incident that the media was blowing up to turn into a headline grabber like Casey Anthony or what will become of Aaron Hernandez. While I was saddened about the death of teenager Trayvon Martin due to gun violence, it was neither isolated nor high profile in the public mind. People die everyday at gunpoint. Once a trial was set, it seemed that justice would run its course. Continue reading “Don’t Talk Guns, Race, or Justice in George Zimmerman Case”
